Dr Whisper Maisiri 

Lecturer in Engineering Management 

 

Whisper is responsible for designing and planning learning activities, facilitating and supporting learning, and conducting assessments in Engineering Management modules at the London campus. He is also currently the course leader for the Engineering Management course.

Career Biography 

Whisper is passionate about engineering education and has seven years full-time teaching experience in higher education complemented by part-time industry collaboration projects and five years full-time industry experience.

Prior to joining the University of Portsmouth London, he advanced Lecturer to Senior Lecturer position in the School of Industrial Engineering at North-West University, South Africa. During his tenure at NWU, Whisper managed two significant industry collaboration projects focusing on plant asset integrity and risk assessment, as well as energy systems operations management. He also actively engaged in engineering education research and practice in South Africa and currently serves as a board member of the South African Society for Engineering Education.

Whisper began his academic career at Walter Sisulu University, where he designed and facilitated learning in Mechanical Engineering modules. Before transitioning to academia, he spent over six years working full-time as an Industrial Engineer, holding roles such as Operations Trainee Manager in the rubber products manufacturing industry and Energy Efficiency Engineer in the platinum mining industry.

Over the years, he has developed expertise in plant asset management, plant and process optimization, operations management, quality management, and implementing energy management and energy efficiency projects.
