Discover how Clearing works

Clearing 2025 opens on 5 July and closes on 20 October

Every year thousands of students find their ideal undergraduate course through Clearing. Clearing matches students who are looking for a different course or university from their original choice, or who are applying for the very first time after 30 June, to courses that universities still have places on.

The majority of people apply through Clearing once they receive their exam results on A level / T level results day (14 August 2025).

You can apply through Clearing if:

  • You don't meet the conditions of your offer for your firm (first) or insurance (second) choice courses
  • Your exam results are better than you expected and you want to change your course or university
  • You don't hold any offers
  • You've accepted an offer but changed your mind about the course you want to do
  • You're applying for the first time after 30 June 2025

Yes, we welcome Clearing applications from international students and you can apply in exactly the same way as UK students do.

The majority of UK students apply through Clearing once they receive their A level / T level results in August, so as an international student if you already have your exam results you can apply when Clearing opens on 5 July.

Make sure that you have time to get your visa, funding, and English language certification sorted out before the beginning of term.

If you would like further information or guidance, please contact our international office for advice.

No, it's not too late and you should make your application for student finance as soon as possible. You don't have to wait for your results. You can make your application now and just amend it when you know where you're going to be.

If you've already applied for your student loan, you'll need to log into your account and update details about your new course/university. If you haven't applied for your student loan yet, don't panic. Apply today – it only takes 30 minutes.

Modules

What you'll study

Core modules

This empowering module develops your analytical abilities as you investigate a topic linked to industry trends or academic interests.

You'll formulate research objectives and questions, engage with literature, select robust methods and collect insightful data.

Build on your prior knowledge by exploring how cultural forces shape workplace behaviour, competence needs and communication approaches.

You'll explore the responsibilities and boundaries of businesses in a range of contemporary environmental and social issues and in the context of differing ethical frameworks.

Topics addressed in this module include, but will not be restricted to: foundation in business ethics, stakeholder theory, definitions and conceptions and practical applications of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and sustainability.

Strategic Management will give you the tools to analyse, develop and implement business strategies. You’ll explore key frameworks, assess real-world strategic challenges and learn how to make informed decisions at both business and corporate levels.

Through case studies and practical applications, you’ll develop the skills to identify challenges, evaluate options and recommend strategies that drive success and long-term growth.

Explore how brands, communications and incentives can alter behaviours from sustainability to social justice. With a focus on ethical issues, you'll evaluate tactics to encourage ethical, responsible and sustainable consumer consumption.

Changes to course content

We use the best and most current research and professional practice alongside feedback from our students to make sure course content is relevant to your future career or further studies.

Therefore, some course content may change over time to reflect changes in the discipline or industry. If a module doesn't run, we'll let you know as soon as possible and help you choose an alternative module.

How you'll spend your time

One of the main differences between school or college and university is how much control you have over your learning.

We're planning for most of your learning to be supported by timetabled face-to-face teaching with some elements of online provision.

A typical week

Students will have 10 hours per week contact time which will consist of:

  • timetabled face to face activities (lectures, seminars, tutorials, classes and workshops) = about 8 hours a week
  • timetabled online activities (research, reading, coursework and project work, alone or in a group) = about 2 hours a week

These taught sessions are typical scheduled on two mornings or two afternoons per week.

You'll also receive guidance on independent study activities to maximise time spent in the classroom.

Term dates

The academic year runs from September to June. There are breaks at Christmas and Easter.

Supporting you

The amount of timetabled teaching you'll get on your degree might be less than what you're used to at school or college, but you'll get the following types of support via video, phone and face-to-face from our London campus support team to enhance your learning experience and help you succeed:

  • academic writing (such as essays, reports, dissertations, projects and literature reviews)
  • reflective writing
  • critical thinking skills
  • delivering presentations (including observing and filming presentations)
  • understanding and using assignment feedback
  • managing your time and workload
  • revision and exam techniques

You'll also have access to a personal tutor to support you in your studies.

If English isn't your first language, you can do one of our English language courses to improve your written and spoken English language skills before starting your degree. Once you're here, you can take part in our free In-Sessional English (ISE) programme to improve your English further.
