The date of the University of Portsmouth London Graduation ceremony is Friday 28 November 2025.

What you need to know

  • When is Graduation: The Graduation ceremony will take place on Friday 28 November 2025 at 12.30pm. Post-ceremony celebrations will begin shortly after the ceremony has finished.
  • Tickets: Graduates can book 2 complimentary tickets using our online system University of Portsmouth London - Graduation Gown Hire. You can also let us know if you would like additional tickets. Additional tickets may be available for purchase later, and we'll email graduates if any become available to purchase. 
  • Where it will take place: The ceremony will take place at the Walthamstow Assembly Hall, Waltham Forest Town Hall, Forest Road, E17 4JF. A map will be provided prior to the ceremony.
  • Book accommodation and post-ceremony activities: Numerous accommodation options are available in Waltham Forest. If you fancy a celebratory meal too, explore places to eat in the city and make sure to book!
  • Booking gowning and photography: To book your cap and gown and to book a photography package, please use our online system
  • Gowning and dress code: Graduates will need to book their gowning, to collect on the day from 10am. Graduation ceremonies are formal events, so we expect graduates and their guests to dress smartly. Please consider comfort in sitting, standing, and walking, especially with your footwear. Improper attire may result in denial of entry to the ceremony.

Information for international guests

  • Visa support letters: Graduates can request visa support letters for guests during ticket booking.
  • Applying for a Standard Visitor visa: Guests may need to apply for a Standard Visitor Visa to attend the ceremony.

What to expect on the day

The address of the venue is: Walthamstow Assembly Hall, Waltham Forest Town Hall, Forest Road, E17 4JF. 

The nearest underground station is Walthamstow Central Station which is a 15/20 minute walk to the venue. Walthamstow Central Station operates both the Victoria Line and London Overground. 

A map will be provided to you prior to the ceremony.

Graduates can collect their cap and gown on the day of their ceremony from Waltham Forest Town Hall which is next to the Assembly Hall. Gown collection will open at 10am.

On arrival, stewards will direct people where to collect their cap and gown. 

Graduates can collect their cap and gown from 10am at the venue.

The doors to the venue will open an hour before the ceremony is due to start. All graduates and guests need to be in their seats fifteen minutes before the ceremony starts. If you arrive after the ceremony has started you will not be allowed into the venue.
