Beijing University of Financial Technology Students volunteered in London Care Homes

On June 28 2024, 40 students from our partner Beijing University of Financial Technology, visited four local care homes in London’s Waltham Forest Borough, coordinated by the local government, after their visit to the University of Portsmouth’s London campus. These students participated in a volunteer activity, cleaning and tidying the gardens of the care homes to create a more pleasant living environment for the residents.

Wearing the distinctive pink hats of Waltham Forest volunteers, the students diligently pruned branches and cleared weeds. Their efforts not only significantly improved the quality of the care homes’ environments but also showcased the enthusiasm and responsibility of Chinese youth in community service.

Alesia Carrington, the head of volunteer activities at the Waltham Forest government, highly praised the students’ contributions, calling them “pioneers of community volunteer activities” and commending their work for creating a more beautiful environment for the elderly residents.

At the end of the activity, the care home administrators awarded the students certificates of appreciation signed by the Waltham Forest government, recognizing their hard work. These 40 students will return to China with the precious memory of “Sino-British friendship, serving the community,” and continue their studies.

Through this activity, students from Beijing University of Financial Technology not only deeply experienced the significance of international volunteer service but also promoted friendly exchanges between the people of China and the UK.

Your willingness to volunteer your time and energy demonstrates a commendable spirit of service and passion.
