There’s a lot to think about when choosing a university. It’s not just the course, but cost, travel and what works for you.
At University of Portsmouth London, the E17 Degree is designed to make that decision easier. If you live, work or study in Waltham Forest, you could get financial support to study right on your doorstep.
Joshua Ramessar is one of our students from Walthamstow to receive the E17 Degree. We spoke to him about why he chose to study locally, and what the bursary means in practice.
Joshua is studying BA (Hons) Business and Management and for him, it was a clear choice.
“I’ve always been interested in how businesses work behind the scenes. How decisions are made and how strategies come together. A lot of what I’m learning applies to real life. I want to start something of my own in the future, so this feels like a good place to start.”
For Joshua, staying in Walthamstow made sense.
“It’s convenient. I don’t have to travel far or move away. It makes studying much more manageable. It’s good to know you can access a strong university without leaving the area.”
The E17 Degree is a bursary for those who either live, work or study in the borough of Waltham Forest. Students can receive a discount of £1,000 off their first year of a full degree course (if entering on a Foundation or Year 1 of the degree). And it is open to everyone, no matter your age, background, or experience.
Joshua didn’t apply expecting the bursary which made the impact even bigger.
“I was really happy when I found out. It gave me extra motivation to make the most of it.”
If you live, work or study in the borough, this could be your opportunity to study local and save while you do it. Find out more about our E17 Degree.
