Walthamstow has been named one of the best places to live in London for 2026 by The Sunday Timesputting our local community firmly in the spotlight.

The annual list celebrates neighbourhoods that offer more than just good transport links. Judges look for places with strong community spirit, culture, green space and a real sense of identity. This year, Walthamstow stood out once again.

A place people want to be

According to The Sunday Times, Walthamstow offers “as much fun per square foot as anywhere in the capital.”

That’s down to its mix of culture, creativity and everyday life. From live performances at Soho Theatre Walthamstow to grassroots events at Trades Hall, the area has become a hub for music, theatre and community-led activity.

It’s not just about culture. Walthamstow blends city energy with space to breathe. You’ve got wide open nature at Walthamstow Wetlands, one of Europe’s largest urban nature reserves, and green escapes like Lloyd Park right on your doorstep.
