On 12 March, leadership advisor, entrepreneur and TEDx speaker Roberta Vommaro joined students at the London campus for a panel discussion titled Authenticity in the Age of AI.
Based in New York, Vommaro works with founders and senior executives navigating growth, transition and reinvention. Drawing on her experience advising leaders, she shared insights into how artificial intelligence is transforming communication, decision-making and professional identity.
Despite the rapid development of AI technologies, Vommaro emphasised that essential human qualities — including trust, judgement, ethical awareness and leadership presence — remain central to effective leadership. She encouraged students to view AI as a tool that can enhance human capability rather than replace authentic contribution.
The discussion also explored how students and early-career professionals can distinguish themselves in recruitment processes at a time when AI tools are increasingly used in applications and professional communication. Students actively engaged in the conversation, raising thoughtful questions about how authenticity can be recognised when digital platforms play a growing role in shaping professional identity.
Another key topic focused on the ethical boundaries of using AI in leadership and personal branding, highlighting the importance of responsible and reflective use of emerging technologies.
Bilawal Khan, course leader of the MBA programme, said:
What made this discussion especially valuable was Roberta’s ability to connect strategic leadership with personal authenticity in a way that resonated strongly with our students. The conversation highlighted that while AI is reshaping how we work, authenticity, critical thinking and human judgement remain indispensable
The session provided students with valuable perspectives on navigating leadership and professional identity in an increasingly AI-enabled world.
