Yesterday, MA Digital Marketing students at the University of Portsmouth London took part in an insightful online guest session as part of their Environmental Social Governance (ESG) and Marketing module. The session welcomed Dr Albin Antony, a sustainability and circularity specialist with over 18 years of global experience in the tyre and automotive sectors.
Dr Antony, whose work focuses on circular economy strategy, life cycle assessment and sustainable raw material innovation, delivered a talk titled “Sustainable Materials in the Tire Industry & How Circularity Is Being Evolved in This Segment.” Drawing on industry case studies, he explored how sustainability is reshaping the tyre industry and detailed how organisations can adopt more responsible, circular approaches to materials and production.
Students engaged actively throughout the session, asking thoughtful and well-informed questions that led to a dynamic discussion. They explored topics such as how companies integrate ESG into their operations, how sustainability strategies influence consumer behaviour, and how marketing teams can communicate circular initiatives effectively to support more environmentally conscious purchasing decisions.
Reflecting on the success of the event, Module Leader Dr Jiahui Zhao praised the value of connecting students with leading industry voices:
“Sessions like this give students a deeper understanding of how ESG principles are applied in real organisations. Dr Antony’s insights helped them see the relationship between sustainability, innovation and marketing in a tangible and practical way.” - Dr Jiahui Zhao
This guest lecture highlights UoP London’s commitment to providing real-world, future-focused learning opportunities that enrich the student experience beyond traditional classroom teaching.
