For my undergraduate degree, I studied English Language. To be completely honest, I was mostly just going through the motions studying to pass, not because I was passionate about it. It didn’t quite feel like me, but I’d already started, so I was determined to finish. By the time I graduated, I had no clear idea what I actually wanted to do. I felt stuck.
But then COVID hit.
Like many people, I spent a lot of time online during the lockdown. I found myself not just scrolling aimlessly, but really engaging with what I saw—trends, TikTok dance challenge, and trending hashtags. I wanted to know more about how social media was controlled. That curiosity lit something in me.
One day, I came across a free social media marketing bootcamp. I signed up without thinking much of it, but by the end of the session, I was hooked. It didn’t feel like work; it felt exciting. That single experience pushed me to start researching digital marketing as a career path.
That’s when I discovered Google’s Digital Marketing Fundamentals course. It was a game-changer. Suddenly, I wasn’t just interested I was invested. I interned for a while to get hands-on experience, and the more I learned, the more I knew: this is what I’m meant to do.
So, I made the decision to take it seriously. That’s what led me to pursue a masters degree in Digital Marketing. When I found the University of Portsmouth’s London campus, everything clicked. The course structure aligned perfectly with what I wanted to learn and let’s be honest, the chance to study in London? That was a dream itself. London is a city of energy, creativity, and opportunity. It felt like the perfect place to start building my future.
Now, I’m studying something I genuinely love. I get to wake up and learn about trends, strategies, and storytelling. Marketing feels natural to me and I know I’m right where I’m supposed to be.
