International students, including EU and other overseas students, can use Clearing in the same way UK students can.

What is Clearing?

Clearing allows you to apply for courses if you haven’t already received an offer, or if you want to change your mind about where or what you study.

If you're an international student, you can apply through Clearing just like UK students.

You can use Clearing if:

  • You're applying after 30 June.

  • You don't have an offer from a UK university or college.

  • You didn't meet the conditions of your offer.

  • You received your results but have decided you'd like to study a different course.

Is Clearing different for international students?

The Clearing process works in the same way through UCAS Hub for both UK and international students. However, you may need to provide additional documents, and the timing of your application could be different depending on your circumstances.

The next steps to take

During Clearing, you can call, email or use online chat to speak to us about available places and whether you're likely to receive an offer. You can check out our Clearing Hub for more information.

Before you get in touch, have the following information ready:

  • Your academic qualifications
  • Your English language test results and certificates
  • Your visa status

You can speak to multiple universities and receive informal offers before deciding which course is right for you.

To save time, make a list of the universities you're interested in and keep their contact details handy so you can act quickly when Clearing opens.

Add your Clearing choice

Once you've decided which offer you want to accept, give the university your UCAS ID and Clearing number.

Before adding a Clearing choice, make sure the university has confirmed they can offer you a place.

Then, log in to UCAS Hub and select 'Add a Choice' to enter your course details.

You can only add and accept one Clearing choice at a time through UCAS Hub.
