University of Portsmouth London’s MSc Construction Project Management students experienced the real-world demands of the construction industry during a field trip to Bouygues UK’s West Middlesex University Hospital ADC site.
Hosted by Bouygues UK, students were given an inside look at the project’s construction phases, aligning closely with their course modules.
Dr. Don Samuel, who organised the trip, shared, “Our students were thrilled to connect classroom learning with hands-on experience. The Bouygues UK team’s hospitality and practical insights made this a powerful learning opportunity.”
The visit included a guided site tour, where students, donned in PPE, engaged with Bouygues UK professionals, discussing everything from project logistics to safety protocols. Class representatives Thiego Nascimento and Sana Zehra gave a vote of thanks to the hosts, marking a successful day of industry exposure and learning.
"I am so pleased that the students were able to connect the classroom teaching with the practical aspects of construction thus resulting in an authentic learning experience."
