Biography

Dr. Gerald Milanzi is a Senior Lecturer in Business and Management at the University of Portsmouth, bringing over 15 years of experience in higher education to his role, including 9 years of teaching and research within the UK. His academic career reflects a deep commitment to pedagogical excellence and the development of future business leaders across diverse institutional contexts, including the University of Leicester, the University of Winchester, and Mzuzu University. He holds a PhD in Management from the University of Leicester, which serves as the foundation for his interdisciplinary approach to business education.

Dr. Milanzi’s research is positioned at the intersection of ethnic entrepreneurship and the broader African entrepreneurial landscape. His work is driven by a commitment to evidence-based policy and the development of robust support systems for ethnic-owned businesses. A central pillar of his scholarship is the decolonisation of knowledge frameworks, where he seeks to challenge traditional business paradigms by integrating African perspectives, traditions, and indigenous knowledge into the understanding of modern entrepreneurial activity.

He is an active member of the Interdisciplinary Network for Technology and Research in Africa (INTERA), through which he contributes to bridging research gaps in the African context.
