Dr Bilawal Khan is a Senior Lecturer and MBA Lead, passionate about embedding innovative teaching methodologies, industry relevant insights into his teaching practice and programme direction. He has extensive experience teaching at universities across the UK and Southeast Asia, with research interests spanning SMEs, digital marketing strategies, social media marketing, new technological innovation adoption in business marketing.

Dr Khan holds a Ph.D. in Business and is committed to advancing impactful, practice-oriented scholarship while supporting the development of future business leaders.

Biography

Dr Khan’s academic career spans multiple UK universities, reflecting a strong commitment to teaching pedagogic innovation and postgraduate programme direction.

Prior to joining Portsmouth, he was a Lecturer in Marketing at Cardiff Metropolitan University. He has previously held academic posts at Birmingham Newman University, the University of Brighton, the University of Worcester, and the University of Wolverhampton, supporting a breadth of undergraduate, postgraduate, and executive education courses.

His experience also includes research administration for a UKRI-funded project at De Montfort University and research contributions to the “Closing the Awarding Gap” initiative at the University of Gloucestershire.

Dr Bilawal’s work is recognised internationally and nationally through honors such as selection for the prestigious Academy of Marketing Science Doctoral Consortium. He was fully funded to attend the Summer Economic Institute for Teachers at Stanford University (SIEPR) and has received grant support from the Royal Economic Society.

Across his academic roles, Dr Bilawal is known for advancing inclusive, industry-connected, and data-driven approaches to marketing and management education, with a focus on preparing future leaders for the complexities of digital transformation and sustainability.
