Dr Debashish Sengupta 

Senior Lecturer in International Business and Management 

 

Deb is responsible for teaching the post-graduate and under-graduate business students and create an authentic learning experience for them in line with the active-blended learning approach at UoP London. As a course leader, he is responsible for overseeing the course area. He works closely with the academic director and collaborates with the faculty team to help students in the MSc International Business course co-create an excellent learning experience.

Career biography:

Dr. Debashish (Deb) Sengupta works as Associate Professor and Course Leader at University of Portsmouth, London. Deb is the winner of two prestigious national-level awards for his research and writing, in India and in Bahrain. His book on millennials ‘The Life of Y’ won the first prize at DMA-NTPC business book awards for the year 2018-19. His research project on role and motivations of young women volunteers during Covid-19 won the ‘Best Research Project in the Kingdom of Bahrain’ award for the year 2022-23.

His book The Life of Y has been featured in the collections of Stanford University. Deb is a researcher and author on the behaviour of young people and has several acclaimed books, research articles and digital artefacts to his credit, that have been widely read and used. He has over two decades of teaching and research experience. His diverse interactions with students from India, UK, US, Europe, Australia, India, Middle and Far East find reflections in his work on millennials and Gen Z. His strategic and practical insights guide leaders of large and small organizations worldwide, through his teaching, writing, and direct consultation to major corporations and governments.


Research Interests:

Behaviour and Engagement of Young People at Work: Analysing behaviour, attitudes and mindsets of younger generations and thereby, exploring their engagement in context of work – employee context, customer context, volunteer context, entrepreneurial context, students in higher education context.
